Just give up….
Ok maybe that is a bit of a harsh start to a blog but it is important to know that the perfect body doesn’t exist. You might be one of those that looks through magazines and dreams of the ‘perfect’ bodies that are on show, but the truth behind the matter is a lot of those are air brushed. Even if you ask the models in those pictures I’m pretty sure they’ll tell you areas that they aren’t happy with or want to improve.
The fact of the matter is; there is no perfect body and if you spend all your time pushing for that ideal image then you are on a fast track to disappointment, failure and overall lack of motivation.
So Where Should Your Focus Go?
Whilst it’s good to have a goal in mind, in terms of the way you would like to look, your focus should be on progress. In fact we like to remind our members of this overtime they come in the gym so we put up a big quote on the wall ‘Strive for progress, not perfection’.
If you focus on each workout being that little bit better than the one before, each day making a small improvement to your nutrition and getting a few more steps in a day then before you know it your body will start to change. Keep this focus when doing your measurements too, if each weigh in is slightly better than the one before then its positive and you’re moving in the right direction. Don’t expect all your results to come at once, by doing this you’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t happen and likely to move motivation. Small progress and staying consistent leads to big results!

Changing your lifestyle isn’t easy but making sure you celebrate your small victories is really important to keep your motivation up. Never forget to look back at how far you’ve come rather than just focusing on how far you have left to go.
